GENERAL MANAGER / SENIOR DESIGNER

Nikita Williams

Nikita has been with Metro since the early days. Her can-do attitude, positivity and drive is the reason clients love her, plus her creativity and versatility when it comes to a range of projects. No matter what the problem, Nikita will work hard to find a solution.

What's your story? What brought you to Metro?

I studied Graphic Design in the Bay of Plenty, then headed straight into the print industry managing a small business. After 5 years, I found myself needing a new challenge and started my first role at an advertising agency, then I met Michelle and was instantly inspired by her passion and drive which lead me to working at Metro full time. Over the past 6 years I have refined and developed my skills within various areas at Metro including design, social media, digital advertising, websites and marketing. Now leading the team as General Manager I am excited to see what the future holds.

What does a typical day at Metro look like for you?

A typical day at Metro for me involves managing the business, our team and our clients while working on and supporting a range of projects, no two days are ever the same and that’s one of the reasons I love it!

Describe yourself in three words...

Passionate, supportive and dedicated.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is the satisfaction of completing a project, seeing it from ideation to final production, reflecting on the hard work and dedication of the team and building relationships along the way is always rewarding.

Favourite quote or mantra:

When I was 5 years old, my Mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to School, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said ‘Happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the question… I told them they didn’t understand life.

- John Lennon

What has been your favourite project to date and why?

Hmmm, that’s a really tough one! I have so many but if I had to choose, it would probably be The Kollective, working alongside Michelle & Gordy (TK Manager), this project was about bringing together the past and the future, including the history of the valley in the brand, where The Kollective was built, to the bringing together of like-minded people to connect, collaborate and inspire. We consulted with Iwi and worked alongside TECT to create a brand that represented both - it was a really inspiring project to work on and to see it all come together and creating a place of pride within our community was something really special.
