It's always been important to the team at Metro to give back to our local communities where we can. We are proud to be a founding member and to join them in this work that is going to become more and more important for New Zealand communities.
We're fortunate that the philosophy of giving and kindness, and a belief that "if it's going to be it's up to me" that stems from Michelle feeds through into the business values, and attracts like-minded people to Metro.
Over the years we have given back in lots of different ways - offering our services pro bono, charity rates, volunteering, sitting on boards, and gifting money to name a few.
We are proud to be a founding member of the Acorn Foundations Workplace Giving Program, which is a concept that comes from North America, where many corporations and small businesses encourage community giving from all levels of their organisations. Philanthropy is encouraged from a young age, as workplace giving is seen as an affordable and accessible way to connect with the community.
We as a team will now review and decide on how we give back to our communities. This gives every one on our team a voice on the causes they are passionate about, and exposes us to more organisations doing great stuff we can get behind.
