It's always been important to the team at Metro to give back to our local communities where we can.
To that end, we are proud to be the first cab off the rank in Acorn’s new workplace giving initiative. The concept is that you put funds into Acorn and they are available for immediate distribution but with their added insight into community need and best fit for your organisation’s giving objectives.
Michelle has always carried with her a belief that giving and kindness can sit alongside business objectives, plus she has a firm belief in the mantra ‘it it’s going to be, it’s up to me’. Which means for Metro, it’s all about giving through ideas, funds or action – or perhaps all three together!
This CSR approach has magnetised like-minded people to Metro and resulted in us giving back in all kinds of ways – using our skills, times, funds and connections.
“We see the Workplace Giving Programme of the Acorn Foundation as one way to formalise our giving, and to put the spotlight on the concept and hopefully encourage others to get on board too,” said Michelle.
“When we all do a little bit, together we can do a lot.”
Next year we plan to sit down early in the year, and review our Workplace Giving and to hopefully come up with some fun ways to generate funds or ideas for charities we care about. Not only will they get the win, but we’ll also win too as we pull together for a greater good.
